Fundraising ideas
Keen to get involved but stuck for ideas? Here are 3 ideas you could try to help raise money for Movember:
- Quiz Night – a firm favourite for many students! Host a quiz night with a paid entry to raise some money. If you want to make the event more focused on Movember, you could include a round about mental health or “Guess the Celebrity by their moustache”.
- Sports Tournament – embrace your competitive side by hosting a sports tournament. From dodgeball to football, there are lots of sports to choose from and many facilities you could use on the campuses.
- Bake Sale – if you’re feeling creative in the kitchen, bake a range of cakes and cookies to sell and donate the profits to Movember.

Do you want to set up your own event or fundraising activity? Exeter have their very own Movember Ambassadors who are managing this campaign. You can get in touch with them on their Instagram.
Support
It’s important to remember the reasons behind the Movember campaign. Men’s health (both physical and mental) is still a taboo subject for many, but please know that there is support available:
- ANDYSMANCLUB - A men’s suicide prevention charity that offers free peer-to-peer support across the UK, including here in Exeter. They aim to break down the stigma of men’s mental health, and help people see the power of talking to others.
- NHS Health and Wellbeing Support - This website includes lots of self-help articles to help you understand how you may be feeling, as well as how to access mental health services and where to get urgent help.
- Movember – The Movember website has lots of great articles about topics such as mental health, supporting friends with mental health and Testicular Cancer - how to check yourself to know what’s normal.
- Your Students’ Guild Wellbeing Hub - Here you will find resources, events and services to support you and your health and wellbeing whilst at university.
