We are very excited to announce that we have received funding from the University to refurbish Devonshire House (Streatham campus) this summer, ready for the start of the new academic year! We will be receiving an £850k investment to make our student facing spaces fit for purpose for the next 4-5 years.
What changes will we be making?
One of the Guild’s strategic aims is to ensure that our spaces are flexible and reflect your needs, and we want to develop and improve our spaces to help support you and give you the best Exeter experience. The Devonshire House refurbishment allows us to significantly improve the space. This includes but is not limited to:
- Making the space more accessible and flexible, including improvements to the award-winning, student-led radio station Xpression FM
- Improved 24/7 social study space
- Flat floor space for societies and student groups to use for events and activities
- Guild Student Advice team to move into the building (currently based in the Forum) to create a unified hub of Guild services for all students
We are also working with the University on their Estates Strategy and are researching and consulting with students to create a Guild Estates Plan. This will help us to identify what the Guild might look like over the next decade and will ensure that we are meeting the needs of our current and future students.
