Hi, we’re Walk With Us Society!
Why?
When starting this society, we knew we wanted to create a space to help other students manage the stress university can induce. This promise to ourselves has shaped how we work as Walk With Us. It is the foundation of everything we do and encourages us to continue providing events to the student body. We aim to facilitate a friendly, supportive environment, allowing members to take a break from hectic everyday lives while forging friendships to last a lifetime.
Hosting events
Our first walking event helped to bring this vision to life and is the spark for every other social we hold. It was clear how important a safe space is for fostering connections and positive energy, and so we hope to replicate this environment in every instance. Seeing the friendly conversation and the enthusiasm of the attendees was inspirational, and we are constantly reminded of this; we hope to keep providing opportunities for this to happen as we go onleading Walk With Us.
We hosted a recent cocktail and catchup social, celebrating the end of exams with a relaxed get-together. Walk With Us gives us the opportunity to host events using the wholesome space we’ve created to celebrate other students for their hard work.
Benefits of starting a society
It was not until we started this society that we fully realised the importance of creating positive change, but being on the committee for Walk With Us has provided countless experiences that have driven this point home. It has given us the amazing opportunity to do something constructive with our time at Exeter, and we fully appreciate every moment we put towards working for our society.
Getting involved in society leadership
Creating something like this has been incredibly special, and each of us on this committee would highly recommend taking the jump and trying something new.
